Motivational Monday – Set Your Life on Fire!
I’ve always wanted to accomplish great things.
To make a difference in this world.
When I chose Middlebury college I dreamt of becoming a diplomat. Of bringing people together and building bridges between different cultures and different nations.
Life took me on a different path.
By the time I graduated it was clear politics was not the right stage for me and I set out to achieve my dreams in a different playing field: Hollywood!
I moved to Los Angeles and built a career in the film and television industry. But I never let go of that deep desire to do good, to touch lives and move people to accomplish great things. That was reflected in my project choices and in the people I chose to work with — People with the same set of core values, who also wanted to make a positive difference.
And as my path changed again a few years ago and led me to coaching and writing, those core values were once again my guiding light.
Along the way one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of surrounding myself with the right people: People who will encourage me, lift me up, support me. People who will want what’s best for me and help me get there. Who will celebrate my success, nurture my hopes and get me back on track whenever I lose my way.
So as you start on this brand new path, choose your friends carefully. Take the time get to know them.
Too many people will try to tear you down, tell you that you’ll never achieve what you dream of, or worse, become jealous and try to “steal” your dream.
You do not need these people in your life.
Those people become energy and time vampires. They hold you back, make you question your choices. They chip away at your confidence and make you believe you don’t deserve to fulfill your destiny.
They are lying.
Don’t let them in.
Get rid of them.
This is your life, your dream and you get to choose who to share it with.
Go after it with all your might.
Surround yourself with people who will propel you forward and dance along the way with you.
Life’s too short for nay-sayers.
You deserve good people in your life so go out there and find them. And when you do, cherish them and learn to lean on them whenever you need to.
