Motivational Monday – Get Started Today!
How often do you catch yourself saying “I’ll do this tomorrow”?
Change is not easy, and all too often, when we want to make a change in our life, a change that is somewhat difficult, we tend to want to push it off just one more day…
And another day….
And yet another…
Whether you’ve decided to finally start that exercise program, eat more greens, give up coffee, or get started on that demanding research project, pushing it off just one more day only makes getting started that much harder.
Excuses are easy to come up with:
“It’s Thanksgiving. I can’t not eat all this delicious food!”
“I’ve had a long week. I need a break, running can wait”
“I can’t think clearly. I need to catch up with friends before I can tackle this project.”
And on and on the list goes.
But in the end, no matter how valid and believable these excuses may be they are still just that: excuses.
Stumbling blocks on our road to success.
Deep down we know that the only way to create change, the only way to get ahead is to take that first step. And there really is no better time than right now… TODAY!
Time and again we discover that first step is the hardest one. Once we set things in motion the natural tendency is to keep moving.
You may take baby steps at first but the key is to take that first step. To commit and push aside all the excuses.
Before long you’ll jumping over whatever obstacles cross your path, wondering why it was so hard to get started.
Don’t let pebbles become mountains.
